Dispar Anthias

Just wanted to share a photo of my pair of Dispar Anthias.

They are quite big as anthias go at 3 inches approx so I assume they're adults ?

So far eating everything and absolutely love them anyone had experience with them ?

My favorite anthias. I have 6 of them and they are super friendly. Some are poickeier eaters than others, but after 3 months I have them all eating many types of frozen and flakes.

I did a bit of research before taking the plunge literally googled them in the shop and read a few things regarding hardiness then I decided not to QT them as the shop said they were there for 8 weeks and I thought the qt with no flow etc would stress them and they would stop eating.
I put them in my DT with a pretty quick acclimation because they were in a coral tank at the LFS the salinity was the same as my DT.
So far eating frozen brine, cyclops, mysis and about three different types of flake am over the moon with them amazing fish

Nice pair! Dispars are attractive and have nice temperaments too. I like their more peaceful dispositions (compared to other anthias like Bartletts).

Yeah they are so fascinating watching them play together and occasionally looks like a little flirting and when they spike their red dorsal fin up it's awesome

This is one of my favorite anthias. In the past I had a group of 12. There were 2 males that would spar and display. The dominant male had a harem of 7 females and the other male had 3 females loyal to him. It was great to watch.

This makes me want a 1000 gallon tank so I can have and watch things like this!

For an anthias they are fairly hardy.

Is there a hardier or more peaceful anthias? I was to get a few, but want to stay away from any aggression.

Dispars are quite peaceful. Randalls are as well.

I used to keep a bunch of ignitus which are pretty much the same fish just slightly different in appearance.
So close they are mislabeled allot.

Not to bad to keep if you get by the first month. After the first month they are pretty hardy.
Not to hard to get on frozen food.
Can be a little tricky to get to dry food. I have only had a few I could not get on to dry food.
Planktonic feeders so the food needs to be small.
Needs to be feed more than bartletts or lyretails or they will get skinny.
Peaceful but shyer. Usually hide a few days.
They are not as murderous to their own kind like lyretails or bartletts. Matter of fact I have kept males with submales with no issues.
They like to have large numbers and actually shoal in most cases.
