Hi everyone,
I'm wanting to upgrade my OfferUp/2nd hand 29g DT and ~8g sump to a CADE Reef 600 S2. I've noticed that the sump given does not have a refuge chamber and I was thinking of having a separate tank that is connected to the main tank for my refuge. Has anyone done this? How could I connect the other tank to the main one?

I sure you thought of this, but why not just put a spacer in the sump you already have and make it part Refug?

So I am correct you want 3 tanks connected to each other?

I think the sump would be a bit too small for a protein skimmer and refuge in the same chamber (14x12).

I would like for the sump to be connected to the refuge. Below is a visual representation of what I'm talking about.

Can’t see photo, says it’s a PDF

Ok got it. Had to open it funny, using my phone.

Only thing I could think of is a diy refugium reactor.

or maybe this, as long as the Refug is lower than the tank, and the sump is lower than the Refug.

only pump running will be the only in the sump, all others will just be overflows.

Also, you can always put a HOB skimmer on the sump and turn 1/2 into a Refug. But your goal is probably the “display” part of the Refug lol.

I have a 10g setup with 1/2 Refug.

Yeah, I was thinking of putting my Instant Ocean skimmer on the back of the sump but the pump has a very loud hum and I was banging on getting a diff skimmer but I can make it work. Thank you!

Hi, I see this post is a few weeks old, but if your still looking, I could send u pics tomorrow evening of my refugium set up in my Cade PR600 sump. I have a regal octopus 150 skimmer (it’s pretty big) and that left me with about 5 inches for a divider. Works ok, Cheato can escape when my sump water level goes up (water changes mainly, so just need to remember). To solve that, ordered cpr in tank refugium box that I’ll be setting up tomorrow.

Go with a separate display fuge. Use the 29 DT you have currently, drill it, plumb it to the sump and call it a day. The bigger the fuge compared to the display the better.

Sorry for the late comment, sure I would love to see your set up
