I am dealing with asterina starfish pest in one of my tanks.

Just wondering, how does everyone dispose of unwanted pest in a humane way (stars fish, bristle worms, even loose pieces of Xenia you don't want floating around the tank, etc...)?

herb garden.

I'd go with tossed out the back door. But the hamanly, probably clove oil then freezer.

Put them in the freezer. These types of invertebrates lack a nervous system sophisticated enough for them to feel pain anyway. I wouldn't lose sleep over it.
