Hi friends, I have a bit of a conundrum. I have a tiger pistol shrimp and have paired it with a hi fin goby twice but I keep losing the gobies. The first one lasted about a month and the second one about 2 months. Both were happy and feeding after the first couple days then they disappear a few weeks later. The most recent one seems to have died and then been pushed out of the hole by the shrimp, no signs of being eaten. So I am wondering if this is common, am I just getting unlucky or am I doing something wrong! Other fish are a mandarin, a ruby longfin wrasse, tomini tang and some cuc. 60g cube.

Pairing those species should be ok
Is it possible the goby isn't getting enough food ?
From my experience, he will only eat what floats right in front of him.

I have a yellow watchman goby with a Caribbean pistol shrimp and they are best buddies
Only regret obout the shrimp is he digs so deep all over the place and makes my rocks sink, wish I would have placed the rocks on the bottom glass first, then put my sandbed in.

Thanks for the reply! I was usually trying to feed when the goby was peaking out of its tunnel and it would often leave to chase down food. The last time I saw it, it ate pretty greedily. The shrimp likes to block up its tunnels so im wondering if its common and the goby just got stuck in the labyrinth. Or maybe I just got a quirky shrimp. Its such a great pair so im pretty dissapointed I cant get it to work out! I luckily did place my rocks and put sand in afterward because my stand has an open top and I was terrified of rockwork falling and cracking it!
