cam this be done in a cup of RODI water? The poured into tank? Tank volume is 20 gallon, going to need two packets.

Thanks again

Another method is to use a fine mesh fish net like a brine shrimp net. Lower the net halfway into the water. Add packets of GC. Massage the net to express the GC into the water. There will be some still in the net. Invert the net.

Welcome to R2R!

I just poured it in the tank and let the pump mix it, I added 4 to my 40b QT tank Sunday and 4 more last night, no problems.

Ok, and last question for now, but I picked my up filter floss from pet smart yesterday.

It’s the kind you cut to to fit your needs. One side is blue, the other side is white.

I cut a pieces to fit into my hang on back filter, this shouldn’t negatively remove medications correct?

I’m just using it as a place for additional bacteria to grow, and catch some detritus that I can ring out in tank water during water change

Poured powder into tank while fish are in there?
Yes, it depends on what u r trying to do, while my fish r in Copperpower QT I add GC and focus to frozen food to medicate internally, after copper is done I just poured packets into tank to start 2nd part of QT treatment.

Be sure it's not poly pad, or a kind of pad that removes medication.

I mix meds in to a small cup and then dump it in. If I am really lazy, I just pour it in. Neither has yielded any known issues.

Need to make sure that this ^^^ isn't Blue Poly filter material as it will absorb your meds. Porous foam pads work great.

This^^^

If it's blue on one side it may be some sort of polyfiber. Which WILL remove meds.

Also, on the meds. It is best to premix them in RODI or in a cup with some tank water. If the meds (still in powder form) come into contact with the gills it can cause issues. This is not a major concern or fatal by any means. Should be avoided if possible.

GC is about impossible to get completely dissolved in a cup. You can add a few drops of alcohol and it will help. Vodka is safe to use.

If you bought the Top Fin U media pad (it is blue and white and cut to size) everything is OK. It will not absorb medications.

If you use vodka to dissolve the GC- use a small amount.

It is a carbon source and as such will cause a bacterial bloom if the resulting concentration is too high

I mix it in a cup thoroughly and then pour that into the powerfilter. Let any powder residue fully dissolve in there.

Bumping an old thread. Can I add GC directly to my display tank so that I can treat all my fish instead of the 2 that are showing signs of possible infection?

General Cure contains both praziquantel and metro. While prazi is considered "kinda" reef safe effecting feather dusters, bristleworms, the dose of metro is not considered reef safe.

Sounds good, I have seachem focus coming in the mail it says next week Tuesday.

In a pinch, you can use plain gelatin or agar in the place of Focus. Just keep a turkey baster handy and remove any excess food/GC mix from the water as possible.
