dissolving trace element block

ok a while back the guy that runs my bosses tank put in a sqaur block that was supposed to keep all elements in the tank stable. seems like a miricle cure to dosing right? well in my opion and untill i get all new test kits i believe it is to good to be true. i beiliev since the tank is 10 years old that all corals are used to less then great water quality and so more sensitive corals coming from pristine tanks are not doing as well. i will be testing calc alk ph nitrat and trite tonight and once i get new kits i will have more of a description. but as any one ever herd of any one using them so far i cant find it any were but i could be looking in the wrong place but i would think if its so hard to find and no ones herd of it then i would say it could be the cause of some problems in the tank. im just trying to vent and try to run down some ideas at the same time and i realy think this might be one of the major issues and i think me and my boss need to open the rock work up i think there is a huge dead spot behind the rocks were i cant see it but i know there is detriuts building up in 2 spots for sure

That would most likely be the Sea Lab 28 blocks. Not something I would trust myself.

seeing this furthers my thinking if this was as good as it says then why doesnt everyone use them lol i think they arnt as good as they make it out to be and could be the problem with my bosses tank
