So I am going through about 4 to 5 gal a week for top offs and water change.....it costs me roughly $3.50.
My question is this, is using distilled as good as RO, and is a 50 gpd (smallest I can find) unit worth the investment for such a small usage?

$3.50 x 52 weeks = $182. A 4 stage RO/DI from BRS is about 130 plus tax. This investment will pay for itself in the first year depending on the increase in your water bill.

Hmmm....thanks. The cost of the replacement filters and such to be figured in too.....

that little bit u use wouldn't have to replace filters that much..you could always sell some ro/di water to ur friends to make some money back too :)

Cool...thanks for the info and the other points of view
Gonna look to find a small unit as soon as I can find the right one.
Does anyone know if distilled water is okay to use until I can get my RO unit? Better than tap I know

Distilled is fine to use. My TDS meter always reads 0 with the distilled I buy.

Distilled is much much better then RO water. RO water is typically 10-50 TDS as apposed to Distilled or Deionized is 0. Pure H20
