Just a quick question, but does it matter what's distilled water I get? Or is distilled water just distilled water. Found cheap .89 a gallon at my local grocery store (Meijer), and it is their brand. Is that still good water to put in the tank?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

its a wait and see. every manufacturer is different.
I had a really long sad water problem. Really try to get rodi. its cheaper to buy when available.
And the cost of a used system is probably around 100 gallons or so of the distilled your about to buy.

They don't use copper plumbing in distilled they use glass and distilled water works fine for fish

I find it hard to believe they would use glass all the way from collection to bottling.. Though they may not use copper, maybe pvc... That's just what I have seen repeated over the years across forums.. Doesn't make it true, though so-
I looked up a sample water quality report for distilled water and attached a link to it.
I think most interesting is the TDS is reported as <5, so not zero which is what I want my water to be..
Also thought the FDA levels interesting in that those would be acceptable levels to go out for sale, right?
So, I wouldn't use it but I have a very low risk tolerance..

Walmart distilled in the purple cap jugs seems to be pretty reliable from most reefers reports.
Copper has not been used in commercial distillation units for decades, today they are glass or epoxy lined exotic metals like titanium and high grade stainless.
If you are using purchased water, regardless if it is distilled or RO/DI it is wise to own a good temperature cpmpensated handheld TDS meter such as an HM Digital TDS-3, TDS-4TM or AP-1. You can get any of the three for around $25.
