Just thinking..
i have a bare bottom tank with no fish. It’s just a zoa cube really. I’ve had about 7-8 various snails and an emerald crab roaming around since day 1. I’m wondering if the amount detritus they produce is even worth keeping them?
It’s easy to collect while it’s on the floor of the tank, but so much of it builds up in the rock and within the zoathids and paly’s. I take a turkey baster to the rock work daily and the tank clouds up pretty bad. I add new filter floss in the rear chamber to collect as much as I can while it’s suspended and I usually end up having to toss the filter after about an hour.
the snails spend 90% of their time on my glass which is usually pretty clean anyway.
Thoughts?

. Where do you think the snail poo originates? If they aren’t dying from starvation I would let them do there thing.
