Picked up two wrasses from divers den Wednesday. Blue flasher wrasse is doing great eating and swimming around. Yellow fin flasher is hanging out on bottom of acclimation box he does swim some times and last night was very interested in the blue flasher wrasse. they are in the same acclimation box but there is a divider.
The yellow fin flasher has a white blotch in his side. Tried to get a photo. I don't think it was there last night but can't Be sure as I added fish to acclimation box with lights off for the night

How would I treat this for best survival rate. I have QT tank which I can set up but always have issues keeping ammonia down. I have set up tank before with new fish not from divers den and have foam filters floating in sump to use in qt for bacteria to help not have ammonia issues. These foam things are a one time use for me and get thrown away after qt. I have not qt in a long while but have procedure written down by tank but it was something like parazapro first and then after first round copper and more parazapro. I have only qt maybe three fish and have lost two during the copper part. Scares me to have to do again. Hopefully copper isn’t needed for this one. I am in contact with the seller as well.

Surprised to see a fish in this condition from Diver's Den. Hopefully you can get the fish treated and on to recovery.

Yeah not sure if it had ich or something that they treated that left a wound or left it susceptible to the infection. I have never had a sick fish in my tank before so I am unsure how he got sick or slipped past them in qt. I am working with humblefish on here and have contacted a few people at the facility. And will be driving there tomorrow to get meds from them if they have some available as they don’t seem to sell what humble suggested to use but may have some in farm.

Well he is in a 5 gal qt filled with tank water with sponge filter heater and ammonia badge. Foam from filter was in sump for the last few months so hopefully it will help with bacteria. I have added half a packet of furan2 since that is what I had on hand but it was expired so I hope it is still effective. I have ordered meds from amazon and they will be here Tuesday. I do have bottled bacteria I can add if anyone things that will be helpful. Also any thoughts if this will effect fish in DT and if I should be feeding them the meds bound with focus just in case or does that only work for internal or should I be giving them food soaked in vitamins like selcon or garlic or something?

There is always the potential of an infected fish transmitting a pathogen to other healthy fish. I would keep a close eye on your other fish in the DT and be prepared to treat if necessary.

The yellow fin was passed away this morning. Should I just be watching for signs of infection in the other fish or should I be proactive and be feeding garlic or vitamins or selcon or the other medications suggested bound with focus

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I would keep an eye on the other fish, and feeding vitamins & Selcon is a pretty good idea at any time, in order to keep everyone's systems operating at peak! Bacterial infections are far less contagious than many of the illnesses we face - watch, but don't panic.

Small town and only fish store in reasonable distance is fosters and Smith. If I get a fish from the retail store I QT since you never know how long they have been there. But with DD I always know when they received the fish and how long it was QT. Like I said before I normally don’t buy the divers den updated ones but have them procured specifically for me and QT for pick up. The yellow fin was a DD purchase though where as the blue was not on the site as he was obtained for me. They have told me they will order in a new yellowtail and QT for me maybe he will be ready with other fish I had them order.

I'm a big fan of DD. That said, I always quarantine any fish, even if it comes from DD. DD doesn't really quarantine their fish. It's really more of an enhanced acclimation and observation than anything else. Two weeks (their standard protocol) is simply not long enough to ensure the fish is disease free.

Agreed, I just had a wrasse from them make it 30 days in observation, was about to put him in dt when I saw him rubbing against the pvc. He had already gone the two rounds of prazi. I would hate to have to remove all my fish from my display and go fallow if something got in there.
I do appreciate their 14 day guarantee.
