I am working on the plumbing for my new tank and needed help with the return divert placement. I went with an oversized pump so i can run the return lines to the DT and divert some of the water to the refugium and carbon/GFO filters. Should i run the T then ball valve then ruturn line, so as to cause a restricted flow to the return and to force the extra pressure into the T? Should i place it elsewhere or use a different valve? Any help would be Greatly appreciated.

I used ball valves in the past and when I switched to gate valves what I difference. With the gate valves there is so more control of flow and simpler to adjust.

I would not suggest choking the return line. Leave it open. I would suggest putting the valves right before the reactor outlet(s). If the back pressure from the reactors is too much then you might want another gate valve on the return line but usually the head pressure is enough. Also, like @jsker mentioned use gate valves if you want fine nice control.
