I am in the process of replumbing parts of my tank, I purchased a diverter to help with cleaning, I just noticed that there are two screws in the valve that will be exposed to water, is there a safe way to protect the tank so the screws will not contaminate the water, i.e. type of paint or replace the screws with something safe?

Are the screws on the "wet" side of the diverter? You could replace them with titanium equivalent screws.
