I'm considering either having a tank with dividers (see image) or having 2-3 30 gallon tanks plumbed together and banked next to each other. The idea is that one would have SPS / high flow / light, the next LPS and the last my mushroom collection. My jawbreakers lose their appeal in my larger mixed reef because they're small in comparison to everything else.

Has anyone seen a setup like this vs just having a species or mixed reef? The image appears to be some type of holding/store tank but you can get the idea.

Personally, I would 3 separate tanks plumbed together. It will look more "finished". Visually it will be more like an art collection.

That's what I was thinking visually, like a bank of displays... just thought it might be cool if the fish could swim between somehow =) (I guess I'll have to sell the blue tang =(

I'll have to think if there's some way the smaller fish could swim between, maybe something in the back.
