Diving into SPS

Can you be more specific?
Sorry, sure.

Coral wont starve from undetectable NO3, or very low levels.
The coral I keep do fine.
My nutrient levels:
PO4 Undetectable to 0.01ppm (0 - 4ppb using Hanna ULR)
NO3, Undetectable - 0.05ppm (mostly the test results clear, but recently I get a very slight pink using Salifert)

Thank you.
You are one of a little few who claims that you can have success like that.
Do you run a ZEO tank?
Can you post some pics of your tank?

Are you able to see the Facebook link? plenty of photos there, if not, I'm happy to provide some here.
I don't use Zeovit, I did set up a zeovit thank a couple years ago, no hassles, just not for me.

FWIW, IMO
maintaining measurable nutrient levels is important for bacterial driven systems, where risk of N or P limiting is high. Limit C and you reduce coral stress from bacteria competition and don't need to worry about No3 or Po4, unless they continually accumulate.

That's one way to do it.
Will take some time tomorrow to browse you FB page.
I'm sure I have some questions about your system and maybe as your tank looks so nice can I ask you to make your own build thread here.
I'm positive it will be a great experience for you but also for many hobbyist that like to learn from a guy like you that know what he's doing.
For now I will leave this thread to the OP, sorry for the thread jack.

@DamianOZ Let me know through PM if you need help if you're interested to do a build.

No problem, I'm sitting here wondering what the **** is a "bacterial driven system"?

Well let's hope our new friend @DamianOZ will explain a lot of hobbyist that in his build thread.
I've seen many build threads over the many years but I'm looking forward to his.

I call a bacterial driven system, one where emphasis is placed on processing nutrients via bacterial promotion. Bio Pellets, liquid Carbon dosing, which includes Zeovit method and many of the other commercial methods.
These system dose C (carbon) to prevent it being the limiting factor for bacteria to grow and populate. So that more bacteria are grown to reduce NO3 and PO4. Bacteria are very efficient, and will continue to multiply while ever there is food, in this case NO3 PO4 and C. and will continue till one element becomes limiting. If C is limiting, there is no problem, but if P or N becomes limiting, it will also become limiting for coral, meaning they can't grow. I also believe bacteria may draw from N and P from coral (different debate). Long story short. While carbon dosing to reduce nutrients, you juggle a fine line that is not all that stable and easily pushed too far, therefor it is safer to ensure you maintain a margin of some measurable nutrients.

Anyway, probably getting side tracked.. hope its of interest for you.

Wow!!! So would dosing NoPox be considered dosing carbon?

I have a 29 gallon biocube with nano box large retrofit kit, just so I can handle SPS in my tank. Tank has been running since new yrs day, and I finally got phosphates, nitrates down to practically nothing, calcium is 430, alk is 10.1, and magnesium is 1440 per Red sea test kits. Salinity is 35ppt. I bought a tiny frag of superman entcrusting montipora yesterday, and I'm wondering if my water parameters are good enough to keep sps growing and colorful. Any help is greatly appreciated, thnx.
Looks good so far, the best thing you can do is match natural sea water and be consistent in everything you do. Keep up with water changes watch how much food feed and monitor your water parameters. You wont get any dips in cal alk or mag any time soon but once your weekly or by weekly water changes cant keep up with your desired water parameters be ready to move into either kalk, two part and or calcium reactor. I would start looking into what will work for you now and be ready for that time. Best of luck!

Yup, I hear ya. So far I'm still all excited and do 4 1/2 gal water changes every week or 5 days, lol. I use coral pro salt and have been building a stand for a sump.

DamianOZ your tank looks amazing! How would one go about limiting carbon instead. Is it as simple as just not dosing carbon (bio pellets, vinegar)? I assume there is more to it.
Thank you

Yes. C is naturally limiting, that is why people add it. it is that simple, but the whole picture needs consideration
The reason for carbon dosing is to deal with organic waste, or results from organic waste accumulation. If you prevent this accumulation you don't need to treat biologically.

Simply put, instead of focusing on dealing with a problem, I prefer to focus on preventing it.
