Hey guys. The old man, in an effort to have a simple and small reef tank, had a tank 20W x 20D x 22H made from 1/4 inch glass. That's about 38g but we all know rocks etc will cut that down hard.

Will it hold? Tanks already built so wondering if it can be eurobraced at the top for added support. Don't want him to feel defeated.

Please tell me if he'll be ok

No response yet? C'mon guys. Please help

There is none currently but was thinking of doing a top euro brace. Was looking at garf calculator and it was saying 3/8 but tanks already built so only strengthening is possible.

Will the 22 high affect it structurally? Of course itay only have water to 19-20.

I've got an old 60g cube that is made from 1/4". But it does have top and bottom trim.

I'd euro brace the top but how would I do the bottom?

I built one for my kids that’s about those dimensions, it’s 1/4” and eurobraced. It ran for about 5yrs without issues. I’ve still got it, it’s waiting patiently for it’s next assignment.

That's great to hear. I'm glad he'll be fine. He hasn't had much luck with his 7 foot tank. I recommended he get something smaller, more manageable and easy to do water changes on.

They say smaller tanks are harder but i ain't giving him any SPS outside of a Monti. We have the benefit of free natural sea water here in Jamaica so he can simply swap a few gallons out. Was much harder in the old boy, and my butt, when he needed to fix large water quality issues on the big tank.

Lugging containers of water from the sea and stinking up the car. Lol
