I would not suggest a diamond watchman that you have pictured above. They really dont do well in aquariums. They usually starve even in a large tank with a deep sand bed. They sift the sand all day looking for critters with a nano size tank you will see one starve. Everytime I visit local hobbyists tanks that have one they are always skinny and on looking lethargic. Stay away with sand sifting gobies. You would be better off with a shrimp goby.

hmm..i never heard that before. the only reason i want a goby because it eats sand =P

so after looking at the receipt, the snail i thought was a turbo snail, turned out to be an astraea snail...they are super slow.

im gonna go and get fish and corals this weekend, stay tuned for pictures

i did a 50% water change, water that came out was yellowish, put new water in it and the tank look so much brighter!

then i went out and bought a fish today!! another step closer to corals! cant wait!

my clown is so photogenic...hes in all the shot.
why are my snails always at the top of the tank...instead of roaming around the tank or on the rocks?

Tagging along and very nice job so far. I was thinking of making my own grow out tank. Where did you get your glass from?

Thanks =) i got my glass from a local glass shop. got all my dimensions and called up the shop.

heres some update pictures, i went ahead and bought myself a frag of zoos

should i take it off the puck? the LFS told me it will grow over...but would take along time. if so, how should i take it off?

also, i noticed there is a dead spot right underneath my return nozzle. theres a lot of waste collected in that corner and its not getting much flow. i was thinking of getting hydor koralia 1 and kind of aim it at that direction, but would that be overkill? i have a maxi-jet 900 for the return pump.

The korilla sounds like a very good idea. I would leave the zoos on the disk but thats just me. It wont take too awefull long and they will grow right over it.

Maybe try out a couple of those new Koralia nanos. They are SUPER tiny and each pushes about 265gph. Looking good. Keep the zoas on the plug it will be covered in no time.

that pump is not a bad idea...i just hope i wouldnt turn my tank into a whirlpool and nemo here would be stress out. hes already only hanging out BEHIND the nozzle there theres no flow. he doesnt go venture out into the rocks or anything.

i went and got more coral. my tank is stocking up, and my wallet is getting lighter -_-

got some frogspawn and green start polyp. hoping the clown fish will house the frogspawn so he has a place to call home. ill get some pictures later tonight as they havent fully opened yet.

My clowns get blown from one side of the tank to the other, they should get used to the flow without much problem. They will host mushrooms pretty easily too IME.

koralia nano purchased...also picked up this little guy. he was just lying in the tank not attached to anything...

cleaned the tank and took a fill tank shot. green aglae is growing on glass and rocks. rocks are getting a nice layer of what i believe coralline aglae and regular aglae

i always had surface skimming problems and no matter what i did, it still wouldnt skim the surface. today i decided to overhaul my tank. i know what the problem is but didnt fix till now because it involves taking my tank down and i didnt have the time. but exams are over and thanksgiving break is here so i decided to fix my tank. i have my rocks, sand and corals in 3 different buckets all with power heads/filter.

i was able to redesign my filter, rearranged the baffles a bit, and was going to test it...but my hand slipped while handling my tank and i dropped it. cracked the bottom glass. i couldnt do anything till tomorrow. going to head over to my friends place to check out what type of glass he has and if it would work for me.

heres what my room looks like...full of fish stuff and buckets
DSC_0188.jpg

glued the false wall back onto the tank...which is now bottomless. i had to smash the the glass to take it off.

tell me what you think about my baffle design. i HOPE this setup will have enough height difference between the display and filter so the surface water will actually follow down like a waterfall.

then my proud zoo.

the GPS isnt opening, where as all the other corals is mostly opened. could it be the light im using? it doesnt like it?

Sorry to hear about your tank, that sucks :( As far as your GSP not opening, I wouldn't worry about it. My corals tend to get aggravated when I throw them in a bucket and do a lot of moving around...they always get over it ;)
