I am doing a 40g breeder sump build and looking for cool ideas on that 1st chamber where the drain from the tank is. I have been looking at professional built sumps and seeing the drain chamber with overflow into sock area that feeds skimmer chamber etc. for easy cleaning. I want something like this.

I have a hang off the side sock holder I am hoping to use(dont think it will work with this idea) but i will be making the sump ground up so If i see a great idea, that could be the new direction.

I am planning 4 chambers - small 1st with drain socks and heater in bottom - into skimmer and what not chamber - return in the middle - frag section on far left fed off return and back into return chamber.

No I have a few separate ideas for that - not taking up space in sump but have a few crafty ideas to tie in.

Here is my sump.....a 40B.

One drain enters the sump behind the skimmer on the left. What you don't see is that that drain first enters a seven inch sock.
