The AI blade is not available in my country.
I've been looking into diy something similar, but can't find leds that would be similar, controllers, etc
Any experiences or recommendations?

What is your country? :)

Orphek makes the OR3 LED bars. Reef Factory has some too which are really good but there are tons of them out there!

Make a google search for Reef Tank LED Strip Light and see what you can get wherever you are..

brazil...

will do, here it's mostly crappy chinese ones or rebrands from them.

Do they have high tariffs on aquarium lights like they do on regular electronics in Brazil? What about electronic components? If you can order components from somewhere like Steve's LED's (or hopefully somwhere in country) without getting hosed you can build a bar style led light with the same or greater functionality than a Blade. Won't look as nice, but you can build a great light!

That's exactly the problem. Short of contraband, or sheer luck from getting checked in customs, everything has high tariffs. And I mean everything, really! It triples the price. Its gotten worse since the new "president" took over.

I'll look into Steve's LEDs and try to find something similar!

First a controller/driver where you can request the mA for each channel.
Then a power supply depending on your highest V(f) string. Max 48v.
Then the diodes. Easiest to get them mounted in starboard. What is available to you...????
Ebay? Not the best but blues and colors are generally "safer" than whites

Then aluminum ..ect.

48" Blade is listed at 100w.
Generally one runs the 3w diodes at about 2w.

Blade runs 24 diodes per foot at 1w
12 – Royal Blue
6 – Cool White
6 – Blue

Looks like 4 diodes in a cluster (w,w,b,rd) with 6 cluster per foot

Now doing that is a bit more complicated
