After a brief failed attempt with an algae reactor i decided to build my own turf scrubber.

The main box that houses the screen etc is very much a prototype and once ive concluded the thing actually works ill build a better looking one.

Just finished wiring up one of the lights,

Wasnt happy to have a 240v mains powered scrubber over the tank for obvious reasons so i am going to try these led grow strips, just 5v usb powered, super thin and will be water proof too

They are a fair bit brighter than the pictures indicate, i do also have a usb dimmer if required

I think the led strips will work well for you. Just try to waterproof them with silicone or some sort of epoxy. I also have a DIY scrubber and it works great.

Im going to solvent bond a clear piece over the face so will be totally waterproof

Any pictures would be great

I’ve used the strips in the past, they work but not great. They seem to dim quite a bit over the course of a year or so.

As i say this is a prototype and i already know i need to change things and ive not fitted the lights yet ( there is a lid too)

Yes but it looks good
Thanks for your photos
Thank you

So thats it all up and running, low flow, virtually silent, zero light leak, just a waiting game now

As these are pretty hard to buy in the uk and even an icecap one is well over £300, i did consider making a few of these to sell for us UK guys, ill wait though and see how it performs

Looks good fair play . How much would you sell for ?
Not thought that far ahead, not even sure its worth my time doing them, time spent on these is time not spent on my own business etc, i know they'd be cheaper than the others out there but they'll have to be, but i could offer different plumbing routes if made to order, mine only looks this way to suit my setup
