Looking for ideas for a diy algae reactor that wont crack and flood my house, from heat of lights on the outside. Thanks in advance.

From the sound of your post - you have a big concern with a DIY Algae Reactor that could leak or break.

I got a used Tunze MAR for 1/2 price of new, very well made, and extremely effective. LED light is on the outside of reactor, keeping the light clean and making cleaning the reactor out simple. Just another option to consider.

Mines been going for 3 years no issues. It’s a avast marine mr16 media reactor with a set of led waterproof strip lights I bought on amazon
No heat issues at all ? Awesome.

I would love to find a used one.

It can be as simple as a cheap LED spotlight mounted to a plastic bucket and a small powerhead to circulate the water in the bucket. I run the output from the GAC column to the bucket and the water returns through a bulkhead fitting on the side of the bucket. If this bulkhead fitting clogs, yes, it will flood.

Darn - I’m in NY and have upgraded to a 90 gallon from the 34 gallon above and no longer used the Tunze MAR because the refugium is in my sump now. The led light broke but pump and reactor are in great shape. Would have given it to you and let you get a new Tunze led light...
