DIY Amino acid supplement?

Is it possibly to make diy amino acid using free form amino acid supplements such as the one in the pic? I'm looking to make a custom coral food and was thinking about adding a pinch of a capsule into it each container

PS I am looking at others amino acid supplements too so it's not necessarily just limited to this one, but rather these products in general.


I am wanting a powder form that can be mixed with other things like spirulina and then fed to the tank

Yes, you just need to be sure you are OK with the other ingredients. The ones here look OK.

Jo-Mar Pure 21 is the one I use following the lead of another R2R member. Have been using his formula for over 2 years with nothing bad to say. I dose 1ml per 50g an hour prior to lights coming on.

Sorry I just checked my doser and I am dosing 10ml in my 200g total system so 2.5ml per 50g.

@bkhunt so is that 2.5ml once per day before lights come on? Also, I tried to dissolve 7g BCAA aminos and 6g sodium carbonate in 100ml of ro/di and it would not fully dissolve. Have you had this issue? If so, any ideas?

I dose 1 time per day. With his recipe I get good dissolving but not 100%. I have a cheap milk frother that I use ever couple days to stir up my dosing container.
