Hi All,

I want to build a new tank myself as I am usually very good with practical things and I can make a size much bigger for much less than prebuilts.

My only concern is placing the overflow and emergency pipes at the correct heights.

All the of the diagrams I have seen, have the standard primary drain to the sump very low in the weir, could I actually have this quite high, say just an inch lower than the emergency drain to be extra cautious, or am I missing something?

I am completely paranoid about a catastrophic water escape.

Kindest Regards

You get a lot of gas exchange in having it lower and basically the overflow being a waterfall.
Maybe I don't understand what you mean but I don't get how having the main drain and the emergency overflow an inch apart is safer.
