DIY auto topoff without a relay

Hey, is it ok to use a 3v or 6v power adapter? Not being able to find battery holder here, online on ebay it will take another 1mnth to come..

I used the batteries to avoid plugging into the wall, I didn't want to connect a float switch without a relay to main power.

But it probably would be enough power for the pump...

Could try taking apart an old remote control for the TV and see if you can pull a battery holder out of it..

Melevsreef.com has an older post of his ATO without a relay being used, and he's using an low watt, ac pump... http://www.melevsreef.com/node/684

Its going to have to be your discretion whether you try that power adapter. Do you still have/use the Walkman it's for? Might be able to use the battery holder out of that...

Be carful with the polarities... If you put it in inverse you'll lose the device hooked to
