DIY BoB connected to Neptune Apex

I've become intrigued with DIY break-out-boxes and I'm in the process of trying my hand at building them. I have a lot to learn with, not only wiring and soldering but, how the Apex controller communicates with it and the types of electrical components needed. For my first go-around, I made the mistake of ordering stereo jacks instead of mono jacks; since I already have the jacks, I decided to try and make them work.

My first BoB is complete, but not really working that well; I'm not sure if the issue is related to the terminal (lug) I'm using for the positive lead, or maybe bad soldering.

The issue: I wired a float switch to 1/8" headphone jack and plugged it into sw1; watching it via the Apex local web interface, open to closed is pretty quick, but closed to open takes about 20 seconds; through Apex Fusion, it takes even longer to switch.

I've tried both positive terminals as you can see in the pictures; the results are the same.

Any ideas for what is causing the delay?

Check it on the IP directly and not on Apex Fusion. If there is also a delay when using the IP directly, it might be something else. But my guess is that it's because you are checking it via Apex Fusion which is in the Cloud.
 
I have a delay even on my BOB from Neptune. Test it with an output you are trying to control. All of mine are instant even though there is a delay on the app.

Agreed. The only way to get instant results is with controlling an output.

Yep, I did a quick test one of my T5's. It turns on and off almost instantly; however, I'm not sure, but I think the default Hysteresis setting may be preventing it from turning on again right away.

That's a great safety. I've got my light set to shut off if the temp gets too high, but I have the same safety so I don't burn out bulbs if the temp is right on the edge of that line.
