hi all, im building a 60"ish led fixture for my 150G.
this fixture is a hybrid 250Wmh/3W leds

total im gonna have 64 Leds at 3W each = 192W
a DE 250W MH in the center.

all these leds i purchased from aquastyleonline.com they are bridgelux leds and the heatsink is from heatsink usa. if you have any questions feel free to PM me!

ON TO THE BUILD!

here are some before the build pix

im almost done! i totally messed up on the drivers, i had to order the drivers again.. went with rapid for the drivers and some more leds and optics.

why not all led's and no mh ????

that 400watt mh is hot led don't like heat at all

the 400 is actually gonna be a 250, the reasoning behind having a mh along with the rest is partly to wean my corals to leds, in the future i can just swap out the mh for leds.

Looks like a nice setup.

Nice build. What optics are you going to go with?

Thibking of going with the 80 degree optics. This light will be going over my 150G

Tank isn't up and running yet, currently I have a 135g and a 22g frag tank

Bridgelux leds from Quastyle 200
Rapid drivers 277 with.some extra leds and moonlights ect.
Heatsink USA 100ish

About 600, for enough lights to cover A 6' tank

I see that you are using the VDM. How did you get this to work with the chinese drivers. I thought the vdm would only work with the ai units or the meanwells that needed a 10v source. the chinese drivers use just a potentiometer and no external voltage?

I was wondering the same thing with those drivers, are they able to be controlled via VDM?

Was curious on those drivers as well. Never heard of them but saw the PIC and thought they were part of the build...

Could you toss us some PAR readings...

Bill,

Those are the drivers that aquastylonline.com sells. I have the same ones on my tank since sept. The big downfalls are, they are not adjustable, dimming via a pot only and they are truly only putting out about 2 watts per led (from what i have been told)

I have 90 of the bridgelux over my 220. When i set them up on my 125, i had par readings of 500 right under the surface of the water and 130 on the sandbed. I am thinking of changing all my drivers over to the meanwell to get closer to 3w per led.

From what I've read the "Aquastyle" Bridgelux are only rated for 700 mah. I would be careful pushing them much more than the 2w the cheap drivers are putting out.
