Had some leftover rocks from NSA build so put together a couple of BTA rock caves / holders. I had lots of BTAs before and they love to attach their foot to caves and crevices. I am hoping they will attach their foot into these caves and stay put. Then I can easily move the rock and put them where I want. The rocks have little holes on the side for water flow but enclosed enough for BTA to feel safe. Anyone tried this before???

I think it's a decent theory and absolutely worth a try. My bubble tips have all got their foot into way smaller holes and crevices than that. That looks like your fish are going to make it a tunnel they love to hang out in.

I've tried similar things with them with not much luck. The best I had actually was just some 1.5 inch pvc. Had one stay in that for well over a year.

Hmmm...I can make the holes smaller. I ended up making 3 of these with different size holes.

Great idea, but the issue will be placing them where the anemone wants to be, and the only creature who knows that is the anemone itself.

Lots of times if you give them a nice rock with a suitable hole or crevasse, they will stay. I havent glued any together, but I do try and identify rocks that might serve this purpose.

You could on introduction net them or use some method to keep them confined to the rock area.

They may just stay in the holes.

Otherwise it's a total crap shoot no matter how perfect you make a spot for them.

They'll decide what's "perfect"

The only problem is they will keep moving until they're happy. Once they find the right flow and Lighting that's where they'll stay.

I plan to put the nem in the rock and put rock in acrylic fish trap until the nem settles in and attach itself. Once nem attaches itself for a few days, it stays put

You can put it on whatever rock you want but it decides what rock it wants to be on that's the problem lol

That should work.

But keep in mind.

They can change their mind at any time.

MY BTA has moved like 4 times now.

1 of the times I moved him again because it wasn't a good settle next to my SPS :P.

This time he's on top of a zoa colony I don't care too much for, so I'm gonna leave him be.

This isn't going to work as well as you think. If the nem does attach to that hole, it has less to do the hole and more to do with the specific light and flow conditions of that location. If you then move that rock to a different spot where the light and flow is different and the nem doesn't like. It will simply move out of the hole to find a new spot that it likes.

If anything, moving it like that will cause it stress and negatively impact its health.
