I am going to be building a canopy here soon and i am wanting an ideas on doing so. want to make it sturdy. will be hanging 4 LED fixtures from it on a 6ft tank. want some idea on how to hang the lights and keep my canopy secure on the tank. thanks everyone!

For a very simple canopy, I used inexpensive fir strips and a sheet of 1/4 inch exterior plywood to build my canopy.

It's a simple box where the fir strip sits on the tank and the plywood extends past the top edge of the tank on the sides. The front edge of the the canopy has a piece of thin plexiglass that extends slightly down the front to keep the canopy from sliding back. Here is a picture of the carcass without the door, right after it was primed. Note that it is upside down.

And here's a picture of it finished with the door open.

Also note that the LED fixtures were mounted to fir strips using angled aluminum that was bolted to the existing eyelets on the fixtures and then bolted to the fir stips.

1/2" oak plywood and a little trim. I hung my hydras with aluminum track that i bought off of eBay.
