Diy controlers... Do they exist?

To say Reef Keeper is a few notches below is an inaccurate statement. Maybe you should've done more research.
I've had to replace my base module for my apex(which cost me $225), I have 3 outlets that don't work, and my lights flash on every time my switch turn on..
I can't speak for Reef Keeper's customer service since I've never had to use them. I agree the 4 outlets kind of stinks, but they're cheaper than the Apex modules.

I did a ton of research, evidently I've done more research than you have. Would you like to discuss DA's salinity module? Or maybe discuss the release of their SL-1 v2? If you go take a look on a few other forums you'll find numerous stories about the complete lack of support and sub-par customer service. Consider yourself lucky that it was your Apex that had problems. You were able to get it fixed, that wouldn't have been the case if your DA product had gone bad. In my experience, you can have problems with any product, how well your problems are resolved is just as important as anything else. I'd rather have a product that needs to be fixed twice than a product that isn't supported the first time.
Go back and do a little more research, you'll find a thread on another forum that debates the likelihood of DA being out of business within the next couple years. Their lack of support, lack of new products and inability to make some of their current products function correctly doesn't suggest they have a future.
Given the choice, I'd go with either DIY or a product from a company that will still be around in a couple years. Find a company that releases new products (that work) on a regular basis and replies to emails in a reasonable amount of time and you'll have peace of mind that you won't have an orphan on your hands in a couple years.

The other forum is probably where you should stay with your arrogance and hostility. This thread wasn't an argument about which is a best controller. I agree Neptune is probably the best, but what you can get cheap that will work. That's the only point I was trying to make. I'm done defending my point.

I don't see that I've been hostile or arrogant, my intention was only to be factual. If anything, your statement that my comments were "inaccurate" and that I "should've done more research" could probably be considered hostile and arrogant.
I do continue to participate on other forums, there's a wealth of knowledge out there and it seems to be detrimental to limit yourself to only one source.
As far as what is best and what will work without the expense, no two situations are identical and it seems w waste of time to plug a product that is no better and no less expensive.
