DIY Ecotech Vortech MP40, MP60 Extension Cable

I have 8 mp60 on my 1000 gallon tank and I made 8 different cables and they are all working fine and wireless chip is working as it should, it is simple cable and simple extension. just think of extension cable with 2 wires or 3 wires, this has 10 wires rest is all same, cable color code starting in 1 end of connector has be end up in same position on the opposite side of the connector, if you cross the wires in different position then you will have issue with driver. I needed 20 feet cable due to running around the tank and wall. I don't think they will make 20 feet and if they do they will charge 50 bucks for each 8 feet which is close to half the cost of new pump.

i was told they double the size of the original cable realy dont know the exact length i have not done it yet still thinking about it not sure if i wanna spend that amount just for longer cables trying to figure out a better solution

Hey Jose...Yes...that was my first option. So your saying It only took 2 to 3 days from the time they received your Dry Side and Harness? How many days would you say you were without your Vortech?

What did you use to instert the molex connectors into the white clips?

once you crimped them together on wire they should snap in connector, if you don't hear the click then turn it upside down, these pints only go in 1 way

Hello Reefers, I installed MP60's and my Gyre XF280 across from MP60 and since am running the wires in J channels which are mounted on the wall to make it neat and clean, Mp60 wires are short and not reaching the drivers, So I decided to make extension cables for MP60's, I was able to reach out fellow reefer on RC and he gave me the list of part numbers there are total 6 parts required for this project, 1. Molex mini fit jr Male, 2. Molex mini fit jr Female, 10 pin Molex Male connector, 10 pin Molex Female Connector, 10 conductor 22 AWG wire and Molex crimping tool, I was able to find all the parts from Digi Key and they are cheap, I bought enough wire roll and connectors and mini fit jr pins enough for my project and I make 4 8 foot extension cables, Process is easy, female pins go in male molex connector and each color of the wire should end up on same pin on both ends of the connectors and you will have your self extension cables, it took me 1 hr to put all 4 extension cables, here are some of the pictures of the part numbers and crimping pictures which is the hardest part but once you crimp 1 or 2 pints you will get more efficient.. here are the pictures....

Can you explain where you cut the existing cable? Do you just cut in the center and add connectors to the cut ends? And then cut new length with opposite connectors? And then plug in? I assume you left the wire connected to the driver and dry side?

Does not really matter but I would think it would be best as far away from water as possible. Waterproofing the Molex connectors would be a cludge but some shrink wrap would be water-resistant.

I did not cut the wire on pump side at all this is just an extension cable that has male and female connected of same kind that Ecotech uses, I just removed the connected on driver side and plugged into female end of my extension cable and other end of the extension cable goes to driver making the longer cable, I hope I was able to answer your question.
