Diy filter idea question

I seen this breeder divider online and was wondering if this could possible be used as a mini hob sump could have refug in the middle and filter floss and carbon in first or some kind of setup maybe add small protein skimmer Later

Any ideas

Yes you can. I used Finnex External Refugium Breeder Hang-on Box Water Pump, Fuge Ray LED before I just made a real sump. It looks like the same unit. If it is the same size and mine was I think the middle chamber is a bit small to grow chaeto. However, it did work quite well.
