Has anyone had success making their own filter rolls for a roller mat? I have a KLIR DI-4 and like it a lot, but for $16 a roll I think there has to be a better way.

I assume you can buy that filter sheet somewhere online in a large tube that could be cut down to the size of the filter roller.

thanks for the help, looking forward to seeing everyone’s ideas.

I tried with material from work but complete fail
I looked up fleece roll and material and there were some out there but went back to socks

I think this place might be promising. I need to get a new roll and measure it

Did you ever try this paper from Precesion converting? It does sound promising.

I just ordered some rolls for my two reefmat 500s from them. Been using them for a month or so now and I cant really tell much of a difference in usage.

Reference of the ordered rolls please. Any adjustments required to fit the RM 500?

They come on 2" centers so you have to get a space. I used these

amazon link to spacers

I told them I had a reefmat500 and they new the size already. Worst case you need to measure it and tell them what size to cut it to.

That's awesome that they will cut it for you. That was actually my biggest worry.
Thank you so much
Any remarkable difference between the two fleeces? https://preconfilter.com/ are offering only the 50 microns size. Such small size can be consumed very fast! No?
50 micron is what is used on the Klir default ones. Not sure what the reefmat500 uses by default but the 50 seems to work good.

Im actually using about 20% less per day with the precon roll vs the redsea roll.

You can tell there is a difference when side by side but the only real difference I can actually see is it seems to be a little bit harder for the motor to move the roll and Im using less floss overall.

How about the cost ?

Any update on this? May i ask what are the spacers for? A picture would help if possible, thank you!

Yeah they are working great. The rolls Ive been getting are 50 micron. The only issue I have is how to input these rolls so I get an accurate length, in order to get the end of roll notifications correct. I doubt Ill be buying name brand rolls again.

I also got some 3d printed spacers from mackdave but have yet to install them since the roll hasnt run out yet.
