DIY Gyre Controller Idea

I believe it is 5v pwm.
I think it uses a generic mass produced bldc chip.
I think any bldc controller needs to be tuned to a specific motor to get maximum output. The ebay board is probably tuned to work for most motors up to 15 amps, so it may not be optimized to any specific motor.
Even with the TI chip, you will need to fine tune the parameters to the specific motor it is driving.
When I have more time, I will probably resume working on the atmega based driver I started. I already had pcb made and all and was working on software. Still has a long way to go.

You are correct on the fine tuning. I have not done any tuning yet, but you load the parameters to the EEPROM on the board. Below is the fine tune procedure from TI. Since I don't know the number of poles on the motor, I will need to take some time and figure all this out.

so you follow my diy thread on RC?

this board does not run the pump to the same max output as stock pump controller. unless you run your stock controller at full power, then it is a non issue and solution costs about $10 and is available now.

The TI chip looks like an excellent chip.

Guilty:) I usually read the DIY section both here and on RC. For my next tank I’ll try to build a modular controller based on multiple Arduino Nanos communicating with a Raspberry. Pump control is high priority for that build.

The DRV10983 can handle any 24V BLDC motor up to 40W. So if the Jebao uses a 24V power supply, you could use it. Just might not get full flow. Since the XF150/250 uses 60W max, I'm not getting full flow out of it either. But that is fine for me and my 40B. This driver could also be used for the new Ice Cap gyres, specifically the 1K.
I am exactly targeting that model for my biocube 29G. Icecap 1K. Does it uses the same connector (xlr 3 pin ) like jebao ?

When I was looking at the 3 pin XLR connectors, I found that the Maxspect Gyre used an inverse version of the XLR, where the gender of the sockets was flipped. Not sure if that is the same issue with the Ice Cap versions. I would purchase the Ice Cap 1K first, then purchase the appropriate connectors.

I love the learning side of it, keeps my curious brain welfed. I also like the fact that its good alternative to stay away from more virtual/impulsive interactions. Wins are small, often time hard to get and very very rewarding in DIY route. I'd prefer to spend hours in soldering or even wood working or learning how plumbing works, than spending time on FB or twitter.

Hmm, I just found this board on ebay searching for a PWM driver for my XF150. I searched for more info on it and found this thread :) Did any of you actually try the ebay version? I only run my gyres at 40-50% anyhow so top speed doesnt matter to me either.

I did look more into the TI chip which you can find all day long for super cheap. The board however is in the $100 price range.

I don't recall off the top of my head, but I can check when I get home. It's been awhile since I have touched this idea. Life and career got in the way. I'll try to get an answer in the next couple hours.

This is great news!! I just ran across your thread on the other forum. I am going to order some of these for my Jeabo pumps as well and start working on a pump control box for my reef-pi.
This makes my day.

the new gyre 300 series has control functions via app-"syna-g", custom wave, timer with power & mode change, send with wifi over one extra device called "Integrated Controller V6"...
300 motor & driver are new and not compatible to the old ones, don´t know the exact specs & tech (found no info on HP).
it might be better to use the 300 gyre controller & pump but control the wifi over PI;)
i don´t think the TI or cheap chinese controller have functions like new sine wave... so it might get louder...

Hello guys, very interesting thread. One question, so if we use driver board like this https://bit.ly/2UGGZ6r
we just connect power and arduino and we can drive it 0-5V (maybe analogwrite to pin)? Do we need to use in any way Hall terminal ?

you need 5V PWM & power
JYQD_V6.3E1 is without Hall Sensors (1,05€ cheaper^^)

you don´t need them but Hall is feedback 4 controling
