okay so i am planning my build on my diy led reef light and i have a question about the drivers and power supply. if im having 24 royal blue 3w leds and 24 cool white 3w leds how many 1000mA buckblocks would i need for those leds? and how many 24VDC 4.5amp power supplies would i need for how ever many drivers i am going to use. and another thing if im going to have dimmers on the blues and dimmers on the whites would i connect my leads to the potentiometer to the power supply or just the drivers. thanks in advance

Check out Rapid LED website. I built my own a few years ago with their products. I had no idea what driver or LEDs to use. Gave them a call and they walked me through the whole process.

so im looking at getting the makersdriver 5up pro driver and my question is that if i was to get 4 "1000mA" meanwell ldd drivers would i be able to run 12 royal blue crees to one 1000mA driver 12 to another 1000mA driver and 12 cool white 5w crees to a 1000mA driver and the last 12 cool whites to the last 1000mA driver. The 5 up pro said that it can handle 70 3w leds and i just wouldnt use the 5th channel. mainly my question is that would the 12 leds of each color be fine with a 1000mA driver?

A short calculation shows that the 12 led's can only be driven to 83mA for each chip based on supply

Royal blue and cool white
Now the 5 watt chips are a different story on a 1000mA driver.

So In the long run do you think I'd be able to run 12 of each on each channel. I can get 3w cool whites

I am running 5 amps for 42 chips at 100% (just dont know the mA driven per chip)

So would it make more sense to get 8 buckpucks 4 700mA for the royal blues and run 6 on each one and get 4 1000 mA for the cool whites then just get a potentiometer to dim them?

Ok this may be a noob question but would I be able to get a controller for the buckpucks like I can for the makersdriver. Like the storm option and the dimming

Can I get two makersdrivers 5up pros and connect then together to run off 1 controller or would I have to get 2 controllers

I do not know their signal type 0-10 or 4-20 so that will be hard to answer.
Would be a good question to them ;)

I was just thinking could it be data?
My question would be can a person control each channel individually. If so its data

now what power supply would you recommend me using if im going to have about 4 1000mA ldd drivers?

The mean well RS 150-48 powersupply will drive 4 LDD Drivers with 15 Cree X Series LEDS in series each.

I've found the Mean Well RS150 and LDD Drivers the most cost effective way to drive LEDs. There are cheaper options but not as reliable or efficient.

Google LED CALCULATOR it will help I'm going to build a 3ft panel with 5 channels using 3w and 36v power per channel 20 LED per channel
