I'm looking forward to build a new light for my tank but can't decided on how many LED and the ratio, any expert out there can give me a hand before I place the order. It's for a 72x30x30 mainly just sps.

So far the plan was: 28 neutral white, 14 cool white, 84 royal blue, 36 violet, 12 blue, 12 cyan, and 12 deep red. All Rebel ES, except for violet, SemiLED. All these LEDs will be driven by 15 Mean Well LDD drivers that power by a single Mean Well SP-750-48 and control via Arduino.

Forgot about the moonlight, what's the best color for this purpose?

As to the moon, what ever makes you smile, IMO it has no value to your tank.

As to the LEDs, choose according to the colors you need. Read up on the most recent data you can find. This is a fast moving technology... updates happen almost daily. Go with plenty of power and then be sure you can dim everything. Be able to dim per color as much as is affordable. Then you can choose and train corals accordingly. This way you will most likely never be at full power, and is more important if you DIY.... meaning you can choose your color spectrum and power as you learn and need. (as WE learn and need ... we are still learning about the effects of LEDs)

Why all Rebel ES and not Cree XT-E in the Mix?

Bill

Got a bunch rebel es rb left over from a built with my friend. Isn't the rebel es series run more efficient than the xt-e?

Its close to a wash depending on the Bin

According to their Data Sheets

The Luxion ES Bin U @ 700mA has a Luminous Flux of 220-240

The Cree XT-E Bin R4 @ 700mA has a Luminous Flux of 231
