Hey everyone,
Been working on a new build its a 125 Gal 18"widex24"deepx72"long. I've completed all the plumbing and doing some little odds and ends but I'm stuck on my lighting. I'm an electrician and really want to build my own lights but I have no clue as to how may LEDs and colors I will need. I'm going to have mixed sps and lps. I was looking at using meanwell 60-48D drivers but I was told the Ldd maybe if I recall were good too. I'm not sure how many heat sinks I should divide the tank into 2 or 3? To me it sounds like parallel is the way to go? Id like to have full control using my apex which I understand how that all works. any help possibly from someone who has done this already would be awesome.

210 gallon here and went the DIY route. May want to shop around for some multi channels. I went with Blue Acro's. Set of 4 and I'm pretty happy. I also carried over a pair of Rapid LED Borealis Luxeon Z arrays. I wish I bought another set because they do not make them anymore but I like them a lot. Probably people didn't like them due to the number of lime emitters but who knows. In any case my tank is 54" wide 30" tall and 30" deep. I'm only running my lights at 50% and have more than enough in my opinion.

My Borealis arrays are controlled by my older Reef Angel for now. Blue Acro's are controlled by my Apex. You can go single chips, multi arrays, really up to you and how you want to mount everything or parts you are using. Nanobox has a nice multi channel, 5, with associated drivers. May want to hit them up and see. In the end it is going to come down to your needs. I am personally glad I went this route. Very affordable.
