Hey guys. I’m putting up 8 of these Orphek strip leds above my 450 gallon softie Reef. They don’t have legs of any kind, and I don’t want to hang them. They’ll be hidden from view so the aesthetics of the mount doesn’t matter. If I lay them directly on my screen covers over the tank openings, it would leave 1/4 inch of space between the acrylic and the lights. Would heat be a issue with 3 watt leds? I was thinking of zip tying little pieces of 1/4 inch pvc to the ends, but that seems like a hack solution. Any thoughts? Is it ok to place these right on the acrylic or very close to it? Maybe little rubber stick on feet?

It won't be hot, but it will be warm laying them on the covers. Would salt creep/cleaning on them be a problem for you?

I’ve seen people build light stands with conduit piping and hanging the light from that instead of the ceiling.
