I have concerns that it has too much angles reducing pressure going back to tank despite using an L1. It read 300gph on the upwards return. Is that enough turnover rate on a 525xl?

You would want about 3x that... about 1000 gph.

I’m not getting enough turnover rate then

You want at least 5x turnover from what i have read. On my 44 gallon I'm running 255 gph after plumbing and head loss

You nasty want to consider running a dedicated manifold pump and a dedicated return pump due to the amount of equiptment you are running or may add later down the line.
