I'm a bit more active on a local reef forum but thought I'd share something here. People were asking about the gourmet grazer and I decided to share how i feed my fish nori and what I feel is a better and more cost effective way. Btw the magfloat I used was pricey but i did have it laying around and this will also work with a smaller magnet. I used to use a magfloat like a third the size but used to have a huge red coris wrasse that would eat from it so aggressively he would constantly knock off the magnet from the glass so I just used the bigger one. Enjoy, Subscribe

So I'm new to this hobby. In fact, I'm still in a very long research phase. This use of Nori has come up a few times in my reading. What fish are eating this? And is it used as a "treat"? Any info would be great.

Would be awesome to see a video of your fish eating from your diy feeder stick.

Cheers,
Isaac

Welcome to this evil dark place we call a hobby[emoji39] Nori is not just a treat it's an amazing source of nutrition. Keeps their colors bright, fattens them up quickly and just keeps them looking great in general. From my experience 99% of fish will eat this. The few carnivorous fish out there that won't touch it you can always sneak little bits into the frozen food (which is something I do too lol) and they will eat it that way. My tusk and saragassum trigger will both eat it that way. Everyone else just goes to the stick. I love feeding them with the stick too, less mess and they can graze on it throughout the day. Keeps them fat and healthy. Plus keeping them constantly fed keeps aggression down.... depending on your choice /mix of fish perhaps not all the way down but wayyy better compared to only feeding once or twice a day. Only concern with feeding a lot is nutrients in the water, especially if you have corals. If that's the case you can always just put less on the stick. I normally like placing as much as they can handle from the moment i put it in in the morning up until when I get home from work. When I had a lot more tangs /angels I would put a full sheet on each side and when I would get home from work those guys wouldn't even leave any nori that is now usually left underneath the rubber bands. They'd wipe it completely clean. Oh and before you waste so much money at the local fish story or online if you have an Asian market near you it's much cheaper. I buy I think it's 100 full sheets for like 8 bucks.

The most recent video of them eating off the stick is at the 3:28 mark. The first round of food you see them eating is home made frozen food.
