DIY overflow baffle material question

Yes, yet another question on overflows. Im having a hard time finding a reasonable price on 1/4" black acrylic, is black hpde a good substitute?

Yes hdpe will work. Not sure what size sheets you're looking for but I found this on Amazon, its what I'm going to use in the bottom of my tank before I do my rock scaping.

I do not know what hpde is but I have some black glass that I want to get rid of if you are anywhere near S.E. Michigan. It's wrapped but it looks like about 16"x 32". I think I have 4 or 5 pieces in the package. It's also 6mm, commonly but erroneously called 1/4".

P.S. The glass will be given away free.
