I am looking for some good designs for my upcoming build 40 breeder with a 39 gallon sump. I have experienced the Glass Holes Overflow for nanos and feel since they only incorporate one drain pipe on the Nano flow kit I am eventually going to have a disater. Note: My 34 Solana is drilled for the Nano Flow Glass Holes Over Flow and it has glogged twice which almost was a big problem.

There was one design I liked which had three pipes to the sump with two of them with two elbos facing down and one facing up but don't know exactly what it was called. I also believe it is a super quiet design as well.

I think for the Solana I want to redesign the box with this type of over flow design to prevent this from happening again

if anyone has a link to building this yourself left me know.

Also where can I get some black acrylic for this overflow?

Thanks,
"Z"

I need to draw out the design and provide it here.

might help if I show an example.

Shooting blind at work here but:

These are much more quiet than any hob two container overflows that do not have some kind of durso or stockman. the key to getting them quiet to vent the air into the drain and trap the water rushing noise inside the pipe with then ends both blocked with water. to prevent the final little bit of rushing noise to slow down the water in the drain.

I think I will be using the bean animal design.

Is anyone else running this system?

Nothing else, Beananimal seems to cover it all, he invented it, right? :) I have a standard overflow in a 125, so 2 boxes. Bothe have a return, one has a full siphon drain, the other just catches the left over. Given the chance, I would have gone with the beananimal, it takes up way less space than most overflows.

Cool I am going to start working on getting supplies.

Anyone know of a retail in San Diego that sells Black acrylic?

Beananimal design will be on my next tank. I went from custom drilled to reef ready and don't like it. I'd rather have my own custom overflow.

I have a modified Bean, one drain and one emergency pipe, on my 30G and I love it. I don't plan on using any other design moving forward.

Anyone know of some acrylic shops in Cali I can get the Black Acrylic from?
