Diy protein skimmer question

I modified and made a skimmer for my nano aio. Based off the reef.glass skimmer and hardware. Its in my 1st compartment where the water comes in the back side...
My problem is still the same as the reef glass. The skimmer body fills up with air it seems and the water isnt in the body.of the skimmer. It goes up and down. Do i need a breather hole somewhere?
Do i need a bigger hose for the skimate drain hose? The air comes out of it too... ty

I also thought aboit drilling some smaller holes down by the airstone where the water and flow are supposed to come in.
