What are using for controller how big tank are you building for
Planning on reefpi for the controller. 2 of these arrays plus a few rb diodes added to the the channel. And a couple mints added to the white.

Tank is a 30x30x,24 cube

Pigpio allows you to use GPIO 0 through 31 for pwm: https://github.com/joan2937/pigpio or node module: https://www.npmjs.com/package/pigpio
So you could control up to 31 led channels without any extra hardware.

Unlike that, there is a bunch of unanswered questions about reefPi.
Like the dosing pumps must be somehow calibrated to ensure the maximum accurancy.

Pigpio does this via bit-banging in a kernel module... on a non real time system. Good effort, but the bulk of your CPU time is going to go here. Plus jitter.

The cheap DC motor pumps will always need some calibration. I recommend the stepper motor pumps which, once calibrated for tubing, will deliver more consistent results. But I also don’t know what vague complaints about reef-Pi are doing in this thread - I wish you luck with your project!

@henGermany that sounds really interesting but when it comes to electronics I'm really only good at following directions. I have a very limited knowledge base past leds and soldering.

Do you have links to the round one? The round one will be a bit easier to since you won't have to solder on to the array.
