DIY Radion power supply replace/repair for $25

Due to an unfortunate event I burned up my Radion power supply by getting it wet a few months back and $309 to replace it seemed like a big rip off. Well I decided to open it up and take a look at the board and it was basically just a run of the mill Chinese power supply. I then decided to get the specs off the Radion power supply box then entered them into google search and wallah a replacement from china for $25. It fit perfect in the Radion power supply case and runs great. I really wanted to share this with everyone the fix was 10 minutes and its working flawlessly. Photos are on my cell I will post them separately in a moment.

no they just bought the board from a suppler that is in china ,but there is no excuse to charge $300 to replace a $25 power supply

I feel the same way I understand the high price on the actual fixture being that it has such an advanced circuit board and controllability but to charge 15 times more then what the Chinese power supply cost retail even if it is in a very nice Radeon case is just corporate greed at its ugliest. I don't know if everybody he remembers but when the fixtures first came out you could buy the power supply for $100 then all of a sudden it jumped up to $309 because ecotech marine figured nobody would know any better I am really disappointed with the company after finding out the kind of mark up on the power supply.

Thanks for sharing this. I had an unfortunate incident yesterday and fried the power supply. I wasn't about to pay $300 for a power supply! It's a shame Ecotech does this...no wonder their lights are are nearly a grand.

Hi can I just see if there was any long term issues with this. Ive got 2 radions no power supply and I figure ill make one for 25 USD

The first power supply went out after 3 months I replaced it again with no issues so far. Keep in mind this replaced the insides of existing radion power supplied I would have no clue how to wire them up without the original radion cases.

My power supply went out too, but I took it apart and it seems there is an issue with one of the two biggest capacitor that bubbled up on top; that's how you know if a capacitor is bad. I'll take pics and post them later once I find the capacitor that works; their oem capacitor is Samwha 220wv 330uF HE 105c; (HE) is the series of the capacitor and the 105c is Celsius of the capacitor tempature. So the capacitors run less than $10. What was the website did you go to purchase the knock off power supply, because I tried inputting what serial I could find into Google and no luck.
