DIY Rimless Build Glass Placement

Hello all. New to R2R. Needed a bit of help. I am constructing a rimless aquarium(48x30x24 with glass being 3/4in thick.). Wondering where do I place the glass. Do all 4 panels sit atop the bottom piece or do they go around the sides of the bottom? I've read both ways but was wanting to do the build the correct way. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Normal it's on top and the sides are between the front and back panel.

My rimless Elos is build around the base, sides between front and back.

i watched a few you tube videos when I was wanting to build my last tank. There are some good ones on there to help you, but I saw mostly the way diesel mentioned.

@saltyphish cool deal. I watched a few tutorials that way as well. But then I ran across another forum read and guy stated that it should be built like @M&M 's Elos tank. Technical reasons I would assume. But it got sort of confusing. LoLoL

I'm thinking now that it's a possibility that a rimless tank could be built either way as long as the thickness is correct, proper adhesive is used, and as long as it's square and has time to fully cure with silicone and all. Hmm. Thanks for all the input. Really been helpful.

@M&M @saltyphish @Diesel I did a little extensive research. This may be the reason why the glass from the Elos is constructed that way. Tensile strength and shear strength. More stress related dealing with glass. Supposedly the structure of the Elos is stronger that way. It has to do with the stress of the silicone at the base. It has less strength sitting atop the glass. But either way I'm sure can hold up well as long as you have a good base or solid foundation for it to rest on. Plus it's all dependent on the type of water(salt or fresh), the inhabitants, rock or substrate, plants/coral, which all produce. Just a little info I wanted to share even if you already know. I promise I appreciate you all a help. Really made me do my homework more. Thanks.
