I want to build something like this, but for a 1 inch output hose. I have a hose of the same type. Basically it has a 2-piece strainer with an internal threading that fits this type of hose with a sponge around it. I can't seem to find anything that is internally threaded like that for a 1 inch hose.

What is this going to be used for on your skimmer? Using some PVC fittings and PVC pipe you could make this and have it fit on 1" threads.

Helps limit microbubbles in the tank. I have a corallife 65g skimmer. I want to convert the diffuser box to a smaller profile, lighter version like the one above. The hose is affixed to the skimmer.

Should be an easy DIY project. Just need a miter saw. I would not bother gluing any of the PVC together. Using 1.5" dia pipe just need a small length of pipe, end cap, and reducer with threaded fitting to fit your skimmer. Made a little diagram up.
