I made this stand last weekend just got done sanding the crap out of it trying to get all the tank 100% flush but in some spots it's 1/16th off will this hurt a 40 breeder ?

I will use plywood if I need to but no foam plz. Or if it's fine then I will leave it alone.

Thanks

I would highly recommend topping the stand with 3/4 plywood.....it "smooths" everything out.

Ok that's what I was thinking too just wasn't sure and google has lots of foam but not much on plywood for a 40 breeder.

Sorry for double posting phone won't let me edit:(

One more thing is it's flush on the length side but on the shorter sides it hangs off bout 1/8 inch is that a problem? I don't see it being a problem since the trim is 5/8th thick

Does it matter what kind of plywood will the cheap stuff work or should i get the expensive stuff?

Ok thanks I was wondering bout the cutting too haha gotta drive 20 miles to cut my stuff at parents but since I live a mile from lowes I'll go there:)

An exterior ply will work......actually preferred over the multi-ply furniture grade. I think the stuff I used was 5 ply.

the ply i bought had an maple veneer. I sanded it and primed it with oil based primer two coats of epoxy paint and a coat of rustoleum leak seal. basically liquid rubber. water will not damage the top in case of small leaks. On my last tank I had a water that was seeping off a power cord. Over time it soaked into my stand top. Came home one day my stand top was sagging and it was like a wet sponge. I dont want that to happen again so I did not take any chances on my new tank build.

Oh man yeah that's a good idea and would u do the whole stand too? I'm not finishing it I like the look of it haha
