My first rough sketch of the sump design I've come up with. Just requires 3 simple glass baffles to be installed. Thoughts and advice?

Does the water flow through the sump make sense?

Looks good overall. You might get some air bubbles into the return pump which can be mitigated with some sponges or other capture method.

Would you add more baffles to work as a bubble trap?

And would you need these between both the skimmer to return section; and also the fuge to return section. Or do most bubbles occur directly from the skimmer chamber?

I'd agree that adding more baffles to make an over-under-over bubble trap between the skimmer and return chambers could be benficial.

sorry to butt in here, but would filter media (like poret filters etc) negate the need for bubble traps? also for bubble traps, what's batter, under-over-under, or over-under-over?

thanks

I used diy sumps in many tanks. I actually run the fuge between the skimmer/sock compartment and the return. Between the fuge and return I do add a second baffle and not many bubbles make it to the return pump.

I run a 40 breeder with no baffles.
Skimmer, filter sock, carx, medium media reactor.
I have zero micro bubbles.
I just setup a 30 gallon remote fuge. Most sumps do not have enough space for a fuge to be effective, imo.
How big is your sump and tank?
