Really would like to add a sump to my new (theoretical) build but I have no idea where to start. Does someone have a good guide on how to drill a tank, build a sump, plumb it and set it up? Thanks!

glass holes has kits.. they come with drill bit, bulk heads, overflow box.
drilling is pretty easy. cut a 4x4 piece of wall panel. drill a hole in the center with the bit. use this as a guild to hold the bit steady. have some else there to keep putting small amounts of water on the bit as it is cutting.
the biggest thing with the sump is making the skimmer chamber big enough to run a bigger sized skimmer. and making a bubble trap to keep fine/small bubble from going into the tank.
