So I'm building a frag (/Cassiopea/Sabellidae/other) rack and am trying to design the sump.
The plan is to use a 6'x2' metal rack, and have 36''x24''x8'' bins (see here) for the frags/whatnot. 2 bins per shelf, and 2 shelves, making it 4 bins total. Each bin will be a separate system and be attached to it's own sump. One will be for coral, one for Cassiopea (if I can find them again), one for Sabellidae, and probably one for urchins or something else. I'm currently using these bins for frags and it works quite well.
Here's a render of what I mean
So for the sumps, the plan is to have them be ~18''Wx24''Dx12''H. I don't plan on having a protein skimmer in the majority of them (if any. there's not a lot of height available, so I'd need a capable skimmer that's only ~16'' high). The plan is to use the refugium to grow macros (probably Ulva lactuca). Because of how these bins will be plumbed, I need the intake and the return pump to be at the back, which leads me to the question. Does anyone see a problem with this lay out for the sump? Anything I should change?
Full sump. I may or may not make the front clear; not 100% sure on that yet.
With the lid off (It probably won't be an Eheim pump, it's just the model I had handy)
With the front removed
I also had the idea of adding a roller filter instead of the sock, but it wouldn't quite fit in the space. So I'll probably stick with the sock.
