DIY sump refugium overflowing problem!

Looks like the new fuge is on the right, and the sump is on the left. The sump has a pump that's feeding the fuge, and the fuge drains back into the sump by gravity. Is that right?

Is the fuge overflowing? If that's the case, then I agree to slow the pump down until the drain can handle the flow.
What if even with restricting the pump to max and it still overflows? That means i need to get weaker return pump?

I have one on my return.

If that was the case than yes, but I’m going to go with you would not need a smaller pump. You will be able to restrict it tons with that valve.

So i need to cut the current pipe in to half and use cement glue to connect those together and adjust the flow untill it balances and wont overflow.
Yes that would do it!

So should i close the lid all the way up? I did like half and it was overflowing crazy.

I don't know what you mean here.

If i'm understanding your problem correctly, the new fuge is filling up and overflowing out the top of the fuge because the drain from the fuge to the sump can't handle the flow.

The answer would be, in that case, to add a 5$ ball valve either on the tubing from the pump or the PVC going to the fuge.

Yes that would do it!
Thank

Yes that is correct! I will get a ball valve. Thanks!

Its pulling water from current red sea 250 sump to my diy sump. So should i close the pump all the way up or let it open? Im not sure how this actually works sorry.
So you have the pump pulling from the sump and its overflowing the fuge. So the pump is too strong. Looks like you could clamp the hose with a hose clamp to restrict the flow, but that would worry me as it would be hard to dial in and if it slipped you would have a mess. If you don't want to get heavy into pvc work, buy a ball valve at lowes with flex barb connections and add it in between the flex line. So you have barb connection-ball valve-barb connection. Then close the valve until you get the height you like. Or buy a smaller pump, maybe one with intake flow adjustment.
